Well folks, it has only taken Tyson about 4 years of living in Utah, marriage, buying a home, and a year of employment in the State of Utah to say goodbye to his Texas driver's license. As of yesterday, Tyson is an official Utahan. I have been telling him for about a year now that he needs to get a Utah driver's license but he refused! Luckily his work is pretty much demanding it (haha). They are beginning a Government Job at Hill Air Force Base where they want him to be the Field Engineer for the project but he can't if his license isn't current with his correct address and such. So Tyson now has proof of citizenship and legality of being a Utahan. I know he is so excited ;)
So, some funny stories about our ward. We have been in our ward since February and no joke, every week in Sunday School we are asked to introduce ourselves when it comes time to welcoming visitors and new members. Every week, we say we aren't new...well finally this week, they must have realized it. They had Tyson give the Closing prayer in Sacrament and he must have done a great job because they had him do the opening prayer in Sunday School and me the closing prayer. Then, if that wasn't enough of the Beamans...in Relief Society during introductions, they had me stand up and introduce myself since I'm a new sister (really, I'm not). They felt really dumb when I said my name and that I had been in the ward since February. To make it up to me I guess (not really) they said at the end of announcements, we would like to thank Taylor Beaman for volunteering to lead our music today. Pretty sure they had never asked and I had never volunteered to lead the music. Oh well. But talk about catching someone off guard. I guess our goal of maintaining a low profile worked...until now. Right after church, we received our first callings in the ward. No surprise of what it was. Luckily they gave us a choice...nursery leaders (what we were in our last ward) or primary teaching subs. Of course we chose the sub option. Hopefully all of our participation this past Sunday will keep us from having to speak in church.
Haha your ward sounds way on top of it. You should have just kept pretending you were new. Every week introduce yourself like its no big deal. Someone would have caught on and it would have been hilarious.
ReplyDeleteThat is hilarious about your ward!! I agree, you should have kept pretending you were new but change your story every time you introduced yourself. You could have had all sorts of fun with that!!
ReplyDeleteI love that it took Tyson so long to become a Utahan. I'm still clinging to my Colorado ID.
